TECHNICAL INFORMATION
TURBOCÁLCIO is a ready-to-use injectable solution containing Calcium, Phosphorus, Magnesium, Thiamine (Vitamin B1), Sorbitol and Methionine, indicated for the treatment of hypocalcemia and for the supplementation of minerals, amino acids and energy in cattle. Calcium is an essential element in the formation and maintenance of the bone system. It also plays a fundamental role in cell permeability, blood coagulation and is an integral part of intercellular cement. It also acts as a remineralizer in bone formation, pregnancy, milk production, etc. The role of Phosphorus in the animal organism is of great importance for the development of young animals and maintenance of adult animals. It is present in all cell membranes, is part of the structure of bones and teeth, actively participates in the metabolism of carbohydrates, acts in muscle contraction, is responsible for activating enzymes and maintaining the acid-base balance of the organism. Magnesium Chloride is included in the formulation, as acute and chronic calcium deficiencies are usually accompanied by magnesium deficiency, which worsens hypocalcemia. It also stimulates the production of antibodies, and is essential in the presence of infectious diseases, weakness, exhaustion, poisoning and intoxication, as well as in cases of infertility linked to a deficiency of this mineral. Vitamin B1 is important in the transformation of carbohydrates into lipids, and acts as a coenzyme in energy and glucose metabolism, converting glucose into fats. It helps maintain appetite and normal functioning of the nervous system, muscles and heart. Sorbitol acts as a source of energy, quickly restores acid-base balance and helps prevent liver failure resulting from food poisoning, drug poisoning, pregnancy paresis during childbirth, lactation or tetany. Methionine is an amino acid of choice in cases of poisoning, constituting an excellent hepatoprotector with antitoxic properties, as it is a donor of the methyl radical, it favors the methylation of different chemical agents, with the purpose of eliminating them from the body.
INDICATIONS
TURBOCÁLCIO is indicated for the treatment of hypocalcemia and for mineral, amino acid and energy supplementation in cattle.
HOW TO USE AND DOSAGE
TURBOCÁLCIO should be administered in a single dose, slowly intravenously, using a sterile needle and equipment, at a dose of 1 mL per kg of body weight. After use, the remainder should be discarded.
PRECAUTIONS AND WARNINGS
Intravenous administration should be performed slowly, monitoring the heart rate during the administration period, as rapid intravenous application can cause hypotension, arrhythmias and cardiac arrest.
Follow the dosage indicated for applying the product.
Use appropriate equipment for slow intravenous administration.
SIDE EFFECTS
Administration of the medication may result in cardiac arrhythmias, tachycardia, bradycardia and muscle tremors in some animals, which disappear within a few minutes after the medication is discontinued. Once the heartbeat returns to normal, administration can be slowly resumed. Calcium cardiotoxicity can be reversed with the use of 8 to 10 mg of Atropine Sulfate, regardless of the animal's weight, in a single dose administered intravenously.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
The product is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the components of the formulation. The product should not be used in animals with heart block and severe renal failure.
DRUG INTERACTIONS
Calcium Gluconate is incompatible when used concomitantly with intravenous solutions containing the following drugs: EDTA, Cephalothin, Nitrofuranthin, Sodium Bicarbonate, Tetracyclines and Streptomycin.
STORAGE CONDITIONS
Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature between 15ºC and 30ºC, away from sunlight, out of reach of children and pets.
